Bangkok's Terrible Traffic
How Long They Spend Time In Car A Day? The Uber survey shows that Bangkokians spend about 96 minutes traveling on an average day. Students have to arrive at school by 8 in the morning. Workers must arrive at the office in about the same period, so the morning traffic in Bangkok is such a nightmare. To avoid traffic jams, Bangkokians must get up early to reach their destination in time, they have to spend at least one to two hours to travel because only 5-10 minutes delay is enough to make them reach their destination late. Some people have to leave the house before the sun rises. Take one to two hours to travel just a few kilometers, and returning home when the sky turns dark, it could be said that "seldom see the light of day". As for the students, there is almost no difference. Most students don't even have time to take breakfast at home, having breakfast in the car or school van has become normal. Until the sentence "grew up in the car" becomes an often-heard joke. People's Experiences In the daily life of Miss Sarintorn Masyoh, 23, a student of Kasetsart University. She said that she had to wake up around 5 a.m. after completing personal routine (of course not having breakfast), her father will drop her off at the bus stop to take public van to the university which is about 20 kilometers away from her home. “I left the house before the sun comes up,” said Miss Masyoh. Public bus regularly takes 50 minutes to hour and a half to reach the university. But on an unusual day, it takes much longer. “If I have 8 a.m. class, I have to leave the house before 6. It will take about hour and a half to two hours from home to the university. I was late for class once, I left home at the usual time, but that day, the traffic was worse than usual. So, I got to the lab half an hour late," said Miss Masyoh. Especially when it rains, no need to mention at all. It is getting worse and worse. “The worst I have ever experienced was when it was raining and I was in the public van, it took me three hours to get home from the university," said Miss Masyoh. Finally, her mother allows her to stay in a dormitory nearby the university so that she would not feel too tired. Traffic congestion is not only a waste of time, it also has a tremendous impact on study performance, relaxation, stress and mental health.
