Due to this, the villagers started calling him a coward and giving him other names. Consequently, he ran away from home to join the Regiment. Hassan wanted to prove to the villagers that he was capable of being a good soldier. Not long after, he was promoted as a Sergeant. When the Japanese invaded Malaya, Sarjan Hassan with his comrades fought them bravely. Hassan also saved Aziz who was being prisoner of war by the Japanese. At the same time, Buang became a traitor of his own nation by becoming a member of the Japanese secret agent Kempeitai. Buang used his powers to raid the village and to force Salmah to marry him. His attempt fails when Sarjan Hassan and his comrades liberate the village from the Japanese, while Hassan himself defeats Buang in a one-on-one fight.

However, the results of their efforts and sacrifices have proven their love story for the country and have been immortalized in the film. 2. ‘Ibu Mertuaku’(1962) This film story revolves around the tragic love affair between Kassim Selamat, a poor musician, and Sabariah, the only daughter of a wealthy woman. This film was directed by P. Ramlee. He also took his part as the main actor and played as Kassim Selamat. Other actors like Sarimah Ahmad played as Sabariah and Mak Dara played as Nyonya Mansoor also starred in this film. The story was about a girl named Sabariah who loves a musician named Kassim Selamat. When Sabariah's mother, Nyonya Mansoor found out about it, she was so angry because Sabariah was engaged to Doctor Ismadi, while Kassim Selamat was just a musician who was not in the same position as Nyonya Mansoor's family. However, Sabariah’s love for Kassim Selamat was too deep and she married him and was kicked out of Nyonya Mansoor's house.
Being too sad, Kassim Selamat cried day and night until his eyes could no longer see and eventually became blind but was saved by a woman. A man named Mamak Maidin helped Kassim Selamat return to being a musician. Meanwhile, Nyonya Mansoor told Sabariah that Kassim Selamat never replied to the letter sent by Sabariah. Nyonya Mansoor finally suggested to Sabariah to apply for ‘fasakh’ because it was said that Kassim Selamat never took his responsibility properly in the situation of Sabariah and their only child. After that, Sabariah agreed to be married to Doctor Ismadi as long as it was desired by Nyonya Mansoor. While Kassim Selamat was performing in Singapore, Sabariah met with him again and asked for the help of her husband Doctor Ismadi to restore Kassim Selamat's vision. When he first started to see, Kassim Selamat thought that Doctor Ismadi's wife was just two similar moths because their appearance did not spill on each other. However, after Kassim Selamat forced Nyona Mansoor to tell him the truth, he was very disappointed and he acted blindly because he did not want to be indebted to Doctor Ismadi.
Sabariah who woke up to what happened was very sorry and apologized to Kassim Selamat. But it was too late because Kassim Selamat was already blind and asked Chombi to take him back to Penang. This film shows the loyalty of a man named Kassim Selamat. The deep affection for Sabariah causes the value of her love and loyalty not to be replaced by other individuals. The value of loyalty and deep love for his ex-wife that we should emulate. However, as a Muslim, he should accept the provisions that have been set by Allah and accept them with an open heart. His act of blinding the eyes is inappropriate and contrary to the teachings of Islam. His act was as if he did not accept the provision that God had given. In conclusion, love is not just about two people loving each other and sacrificing everything to have a happy life but love can also be translated to love to anything. If we fail in love, it is not our life ending. But it is just a challenge to get a better love. Goodluck in finding a life partner!
